TALLAHASSEE, FL - Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D. (Florida-02) expressed his disappointment with the College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee's decision to exclude Florida State University (FSU) from the College Football Playoff. In a statement, Congressman Dunn stated, "College football failed Florida State University. It's a shame that an undefeated team, who earned every bit of their perfect season, won't even get a shot in the College Football Playoffs. What does college football have against Florida State and Tallahassee?"

The congressman emphasized that the Florida State Seminoles had an impeccable record of 13-0 and secured the ACC Championship title. He believed that the Seminoles deserved a chance to compete in the playoffs and prove themselves as champions. He stated, "Make no mistake, Florida's Second Congressional District knows our Seminoles are champions even if the selection committee fails to recognize that they earned a chance to prove it."

One of the factors that Congressman Dunn highlighted as contributing to the unfair treatment of Florida State was the untimely injury of Quarterback Jordan Travis. This injury seemed to have influenced the committee's evaluation of the team's performance, overlooking their undefeated season.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Congressman Dunn has voiced his concerns regarding the treatment of Florida State by college football authorities. Earlier this year, he criticized the NCAA's decision to block Darrell Jackson from playing football with the Seminoles after he transferred to FSU to be closer to his ailing mother. Congressman Dunn even sent a letter to NCAA President Charlie Baker, urging him to reconsider Jackson's waiver so that he could play with FSU.

Despite the disappointment, Florida State University and their fans remain proud of the team's accomplishments throughout the season. While they may have been overlooked for the College Football Playoff, the Seminoles have proven their worth on the field and will continue to strive for success in future seasons.
