Florida State University’s women’s basketball team lost to California 75-62 on Thursday night at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. The Seminoles now hold a record of 9-18 overall and 4-11 in ACC play, while California improved to 17-11 overall and 8-7 in the conference.
Senior guard Sydney Bowles led Florida State with 17 points, making six out of twelve shots from the field and hitting four of seven three-point attempts. Sole Williams contributed 13 points for the Seminoles.
The first quarter ended with Florida State ahead, as Bowles made a buzzer-beater three-pointer to put her team up 18-16. She continued her strong performance into the second quarter by sinking two more three-pointers within just over a minute. Despite registering five steals in the period, Florida State trailed California by two points at halftime, with a score of 32-30.
Florida State forced a total of 15 turnovers during the game, including eight steals. In the third quarter, Williams started off with a three-pointer and scored eight consecutive points as part of an eleven-point effort in that frame. The Seminoles outscored California in the third quarter and entered the fourth leading by three points.
However, California regained momentum in the final period to secure their victory.
Florida State will honor its senior class during its last regular season home game on Sunday, February 22, when it hosts Stanford at 2 p.m. on ACC Network (ACCN).
