The Florida A&M volleyball team was defeated by Texas in the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Volleyball Tournament on Friday. The match, held in Austin, ended with Texas winning in straight sets (25-11, 25-8, 25-14).

With this non-conference loss, Florida A&M’s season record stands at 14 wins and 17 losses.

Farah Farooq led the Rattlers’ offense with five kills and achieved a hitting percentage of .444. On defense, Victoria Santana recorded seven digs for Florida A&M.

Sydney Whitfield contributed one ace during the match. Makenzie Taylor provided a team-high 12 assists to support the team’s attackers.

In the first set, Florida A&M fell behind early and lost 25-11. Texas maintained control throughout the set, which was never tied after play began.

The second set saw Florida A&M fall further behind as Texas won 25-8. The set was tied three times before Texas took a lasting lead at 4-3.

Florida A&M could not recover in the third set and lost 25-14. The Rattlers dropped the first point and did not regain the lead for the remainder of the match.
