No. 16 Florida State lost its first game of the 2026 baseball season to No. 9 Auburn, with a final score of 8-5 on Saturday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The matchup was part of the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series.

Florida State, now holding a 4-1 record, scored five runs on seven hits and committed one error. Auburn improved to 5-1, tallying eight runs on 11 hits with two errors. The Seminoles left eight runners on base, while the Tigers stranded four.

Sophomore Gabe Fraser led Florida State’s offense with two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored. Six different Seminole players recorded at least one hit during the game.

Starting pitcher Bryson Moore gave up three runs—two earned—in just over four innings, striking out three and walking two batters. Cade O’Leary took his first loss after allowing three runs in relief.

The defeat ended a four-game winning streak for Florida State in Major League ballparks. The team now has a 16-5 record in stadiums that have hosted at least one full MLB season. Globe Life Field is the fourth major league park where the Seminoles have played and is currently home to an MLB team.

Historically, Florida State holds a 77-43 advantage over Auburn but is now 1-2 against them at neutral sites. This was their first meeting since 2022 and their first regular-season contest since 2009.

Florida State opened strong with a four-run first inning highlighted by an RBI single from Noah Sheffield and additional RBIs from Fraser and Brody DeLamielleure. Auburn responded with an unearned run in the second inning after a throwing error by FSU and added another run in the third with a solo home run.

Auburn took control in the fifth inning by scoring three runs to lead 5-4 after Moore exited following a walk. Despite loading the bases in the sixth inning, Florida State could not capitalize.

Auburn extended its lead through sacrifice flies in both the sixth and seventh innings. In the eighth, Fraser scored for FSU after being hit by a pitch but Auburn answered back on a wild pitch to maintain their three-run margin heading into the ninth.

The game concluded with two strikeouts as Florida State failed to rally.

Florida State will finish its participation in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series against Nebraska on Sunday afternoon.
