The Florida State lacrosse team earned its first-ever road win on April 7, defeating Kent State 14-5 at Dix Stadium.
This win is a milestone for the program as it marks their inaugural victory away from home. The result also improves the Seminoles’ record to 4-11 this season.
Sophomore Meg Kenny led Florida State by tying a program record with six points and matching the single-game record with five goals. This was her first career five-goal game and her seventh multi-goal performance of the year. Freshman attacker Summer Harrell also tied a program record by recording six points, including a career-high four assists and two goals. Harrell’s four assists represent only the second time this season that a Seminole has reached that total in one game.
Sophomore midfielder Lydia Ward contributed two goals and two assists, marking her third multi-assist game of the year. Junior midfielder Alyssa Deacy scored twice for her third multi-goal outing this season, while freshmen Amelia Brite, Brynn Perkins, and Emily Barnett each added one goal apiece. On defense, senior Superia Clark set career highs with four caused turnovers and five ground balls; she leads the team with 23 caused turnovers this season.
The Seminoles set new single-game highs in assists (10), shots on goal (30), and clears (25). They started quickly, scoring their fastest goal of the season just 46 seconds into play when Harrell assisted Brite. A strong opening run saw them take an early lead before Kent State responded late in the first quarter.
Florida State will have a week off before concluding its regular season at home against No. 11 Clemson on Thursday, April 16 at the Seminole Lacrosse Complex.
