The Florida State softball team, currently ranked No. 6 nationally, will begin a stretch of 12 consecutive home games on Tuesday night when they host Louisiana at JoAnne Graf Field. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start and will be broadcast on ACCNX with Shawn Davison and Brandon Reichert providing commentary.
Following the matchup against Louisiana, Florida State will host No. 12 Alabama, Dartmouth, and Elon during the Dugout Club Classic this weekend.
Louisiana enters the contest with a 6-3 record. Their losses have come against Jacksonville State, Ole Miss, and Prairie View A&M. The team recorded a win over Ole Miss last Saturday. Haley Hart leads Louisiana offensively with a .481 batting average, three home runs, and 12 RBI. Lily Knox is also contributing with a .450 average, two home runs, and 10 RBI. Pitcher Julianne Tipton has thrown 15 innings for the Ragin’ Cajuns with an ERA of 2.33, while Lexie Delbrey has posted a 2.74 ERA in just over 15 innings.
Florida State recently played in the Clearwater Invitational where they finished with two wins and two losses—defeating No. 7 UCLA and RV FAU but falling to No. 1 Texas Tech and No. 3 Tennessee. The Seminoles scored eleven runs against UCLA—their highest output against a top-10 opponent since scoring twelve against UCLA in the Women’s College World Series in 2018.
The top four hitters in FSU’s lineup—Isa Torres, Marin Heller, Jaysoni Beachum, and Marin Heller—combined for twenty hits out of fifty-six at-bats (.357) and drove in sixteen of FSU’s twenty-three total RBI during the tournament. In their win over FAU, nine out of thirteen hits came from freshmen players who also accounted for seven of nine RBI.
Individually, Isa Torres hit .429 with four RBI including one home run during the invitational while Jaysoni Beachum batted .364 with two home runs and six RBI—including her third career multi-home run game versus UCLA where she went three-for-three at bat.
Anna Hinde contributed by hitting .455 along with one home run and two RBI across the tournament games.
In pitching performances for Florida State at Clearwater Invitational, Jazzy Francik earned two wins—against both UCLA and FAU—and pitched ten total innings allowing four earned runs on nine hits.
Florida State was selected as preseason favorites to win the ACC title for what would be their twelfth time in thirteen seasons. The team holds rankings of sixth in USA Softball/ESPN.com Top 25 Polls as well as seventh in NFCA/GoRout Top 25 polls.
Head Coach Lonni Alameda is now serving her eighteenth season at Florida State (twenty-third overall as Division I head coach). Under her leadership FSU has secured thirty-seven combined ACC Tournament and Regular Season Championships—the most among all programs nationwide.
Five Seminole players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team: Jaysoni Beachum, Ashtyn Danley, Jazzy Francik, Kennedy Harp and Isa Torres; no other program had more than three selections this year.
FSU returns two NFCA All-Americans from last season (Isa Torres – First Team; Kennedy Harp – Second Team), along with four All-ACC honorees: Torres, Danley, Francik and Harp.
The current roster does not include any transfers—a distinction shared only by FSU and Virginia within their conference—and features nine true freshmen ranked as On3’s third-best incoming class nationally.
Pitchers Jazzy Francik (1.51 ERA) and Ashtyn Danley (1.60 ERA) return after leading all ACC pitchers last season.
Last year Isa Torres set a school record for single-season batting average by hitting .436 as a sophomore.
