The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Florida State University is opening registration for its spring 2026 program, designed for adults over 50 who are interested in continued education without the pressures of traditional academic requirements.
OLLI at FSU provides a range of classes and activities with no grades, tests, or required reading. Membership and course registration do not require any prior educational background. Course topics this semester include subjects such as science, history, music, health, language skills, technology, current events, and the arts. Some examples are “Aliens! It’s (Almost) Never Aliens,” “Evolution and Human Sexuality,” “The Universe: Quantum Reality,” and “U.S. Immigration Policy.”
Instructors typically include university faculty members as well as other subject matter experts.
This year marks OLLI’s 35th anniversary. To celebrate the milestone, OLLI will launch its Distinguished Professor Lecture Series with Eoin Devlin from Cambridge University in England. Devlin will present four lectures focusing on political, cultural, and diplomatic aspects of 20th-century British history during the week of February 17-20.
Classes are offered in several formats: in-person on the Florida State University campus and at Westminster Oaks retirement community; at additional locations; online via Zoom; or as hybrid sessions combining both options. The spring term runs from Monday, February 23 through Thursday, April 9.
Registration is currently open at olli.fsu.edu for courses lasting one to six weeks. For more information about membership or assistance with registration, individuals can visit olli.fsu.edu or contact Deb Herman at dherman@fsu.edu or Stefanie Hartsfield at stefanie.hartsfield@fsu.edu.
