FOIA Request to Tallahassee Community College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Tallahassee Community College. Our request seeks detailed information about the presence and support of Chinese National students within the institution.
The request specifically asks for documents or lists that identify all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. If this information is protected, we have requested an aggregate total number of such students, broken down by department where possible.
Additionally, we are seeking information on scholarships awarded to these students. This includes details about the amount each student receives and the source of these scholarships. We have also asked for specifics regarding any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.
Furthermore, our inquiry extends to policies or procedures implemented by the university to monitor students—particularly Chinese Nationals—to safeguard intellectual property and other confidential information.
This request is made on behalf of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting transparency through investigative efforts using Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. As members of the media, we believe access to public records is crucial for holding institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.
We look forward to receiving a response from Tallahassee Community College and will continue our efforts to provide comprehensive news coverage on matters affecting local governance and public interest.
