Florida State University’s women’s basketball team secured a win over Boston College on Thursday night, finishing with a score of 85-76. The victory brought the Seminoles’ season record to 9-16 overall and 4-9 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Boston College remains winless in conference games this season.
Four Florida State players scored in double figures during the game. Sole Williams led the team with 23 points, making 10 out of her 13 field goal attempts. This marked her sixth game of the season scoring at least 20 points.
Jasmine Shavers recorded her second double-double of the year, contributing 18 points and leading with 10 rebounds. She also made three three-pointers, bringing her total for the season to 47.
Amaya Bonner added another strong performance with 18 points, shooting five-of-eight from the field and matching her career high with six rebounds. She also had five assists during the game. Pania Davis was the fourth Seminole to reach double digits, finishing with 11 points.
The team registered nine blocks—its highest total in an ACC game this season—with Tatum Greene tying her career high by blocking four shots. Greene also scored seven points and collected seven rebounds.
FSU started quickly, taking a lead after early three-pointers from Bonner, Shavers, and Sydney Bowles. By the end of the first quarter, FSU led Boston College by eight points at 23-15.
In the second quarter, Florida State went on a decisive run, opening with a streak that forced Boston College to call timeout while trailing by nineteen points. Although Boston College responded later in the period to reduce their deficit before halftime, FSU still led at intermission by ten points.
After an even start to the third quarter, Florida State pulled away again and entered the final period up by fourteen points. Despite efforts from Boston College in the fourth quarter to close the gap, FSU maintained its advantage throughout and secured its ninth win of the season.
Florida State’s next game will be against Louisville on Sunday at KFC Yum! Center.
