On Friday, March 21, former Lawton Chiles High School standout Cooper Smith’s current college team, the Flagler Saints, won 4-2 in their NCAA Division II baseball game against the Georgia Bobcats.
The game took place at Drysdale Field. This was their first matchup against the Bobcats this season.
The Saints’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, March 22 at 2 p.m. at Drysdale Field against Georgia Bobcats.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
