Florida State junior Jack Whaley advanced to the final round of stroke play at the 2026 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship on June 2 at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Whaley was among the top nine individuals from non-advancing teams after three rounds, earning a spot in the final round. Starting his afternoon from the 10th tee, Whaley made an early birdie on his second hole but followed with a bogey on No. 12. He responded with another birdie on his fourth hole before carding a bogey on the next.
Seeking momentum, Whaley recorded birdies on holes 15 and 17 before making the turn to move to five-under-par. After six steady holes, he moved to six-under with a birdie on the par-five sixth hole but gave that stroke back with a bogey on seven. He finished strong by making a birdie on his last hole, closing out at six-under-par (282) for the tournament and tying for 14th place after shooting three-under (69) in his final round.
In his first NCAA appearance, Whaley posted rounds of 72, 68, 73 and 69. His four-round total ties as the fourth-lowest score by an FSU player at an NCAA Championship in program history alongside Jonas Blixt (2007) and Luke Clanton (2024).
