Robert McCray V scored 29 points to lead Florida State to a 70-65 win over No. 24 Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum. This marks the Seminoles’ third straight victory and their seventh win in nine games. The win is also the team’s fourth ACC road victory this season and the first against a ranked opponent under head coach Luke Loucks and his staff. The last time Florida State defeated a ranked team was in November 2023, when they beat Colorado in overtime.
Florida State’s record now stands at 14-13 overall and 7-7 in ACC play, while Clemson drops to 20-8 and 10-5 in the conference. Clemson entered the game ranked No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches poll.
McCray V matched his season high of 29 points, which he previously set against Florida on November 7, 2025. He has reached double figures in scoring for fourteen consecutive games and has scored at least twenty points seven times this season. This is also his second straight game with more than twenty points, marking the second time he has achieved back-to-back games with that tally during his first year as a Seminole.
After trailing at halftime, Florida State mounted a comeback for its third consecutive come-from-behind win. In each of those three games, the Seminoles have shot at least fifty percent from the field and forty percent from beyond the arc during the second half.
On both ends of the court, Florida State made key plays. The Seminoles outscored Clemson by eleven to zero on second-chance points and converted eight Tiger turnovers into fourteen points.
Florida State led by six midway through the first half before Clemson went on a ten-point run to take control. By halftime, Clemson led by three after Lajae Jones hit a three-pointer following a layup from McCray V.
Jones ended with thirteen points, two rebounds, and three blocks—his third game this season with that many blocks and his sixth straight scoring in double digits.
The Tigers extended their lead early in the second half before an AJ Swinton dunk started a seven-point run for Florida State. Senior Chauncey Wiggins added seven points against his former team while shooting fifty percent from both inside and outside the arc.
In a close finish, Clemson held a two-point advantage with less than three minutes left before being held scoreless as McCray V scored all seven of Florida State’s final points to secure victory.
Florida State will next play Miami at home on Tuesday, February 24 at 9:00 p.m.
