Florida State University’s women’s basketball team was defeated by Clemson University with a score of 77-58 at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina. The loss brings Florida State’s record to 7-15 overall and 2-8 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), while Clemson improves to 16-7 overall and 7-4 in the ACC.
Junior guard Sole Williams led all scorers with 23 points, making nine out of eighteen shots for a field goal percentage of 50 percent. Williams also contributed four rebounds and two assists. “Williams highlighted the first quarter offensive effort with 10 points after going a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, including two triples,” according to the team statement.
Sophomore guard Tatum Greene led Florida State in rebounding, pulling down nine boards and adding seven points and one assist. In the opening quarter, three-pointers by Greene and Williams kept Florida State close behind Clemson, ending the period trailing 21-15.
Freshman guard Mari Gerton scored early in the second quarter on a second-chance basket. Senior guard Amaya Bonner added a tip-in as Williams continued her scoring drive. Ten of Florida State’s second-quarter points came from inside the paint, but they trailed at halftime, 42-27.
At halftime, Williams had scored fourteen points for Florida State—more than half of her team’s total—and Greene had secured five rebounds. In the third quarter, Williams added four more points while Greene hit another three-pointer. Shavers made her first field goal of the game during this period and went three-for-three from the free throw line.
In the fourth quarter, Davis contributed four points and three rebounds within just over two minutes. Junior guard Emma Risch made her only three-pointer late in the game, extending her streak to four consecutive games with at least one successful shot from beyond the arc. Despite these efforts, Clemson maintained its lead throughout and secured victory.
Florida State will next play against NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, February 5th. The game is scheduled for broadcast on ACC Network at 8 p.m.
