FAMU Relocating COVID-19 Testing Site From Bragg As Football Season Approaches

Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.

In anticipation of the start of the Florida A&M University (FAMU) football season, the COVID-19 testing is being relocated from Bragg Memorial Stadium on Monday.

To facilitate the move, the Bragg site will be closed Saturday and Sunday. The new site at 2507 Wahnish Way will open at 8 a.m. Monday.

The new location is the large field across from the FAMU Police Department located on Wahnish Way. It is just north of the FAMU Developmental Research School campus. There will be signs on the street and a designated entry and exit for testing. Mobile units and tents will be in place in time for the opening, said Tanya Tatum, director of Student Health Services.

Since it first opened on April 25, 2020, the Bragg site has performed 441,758 tests. On Thursday, the staff performed 2,109 rapid tests, of which 9.82 percent were positive. The site also performs PCR tests.

Tests are free and no physician referral is required.

FAMU plays its home opener against Fort Valley State on September 11, 2021.
