Gadsden County issued the following announcement on Aug. 25.
The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) today announced the closing of the grant application process for the Gadsden County American Rescue Plan Small Business Program. Small business owners located in Gadsden County have until August 31, at 11:59 p.m. to apply.
The Gadsden County Rescue Plan business grants are available to small businesses that have experienced a loss of revenue or increased expenditures due to COVID-19.
In this new Small Business Assistance Program, a qualifying business can be a home-based business or a brick-and-mortar type business. With the focus on small businesses, the applicant must have less than 100 employees and not be a publicly-traded company or a component of a publicly-traded company.
When they apply for the grants, businesses will need to provide supporting documentation and other items documenting their lost income and business status. The requirements for using this funding for assistance to Gadsden County small businesses are far less stringent than the previous Federal and State guidelines under the CARES Act. This streamlined effort will enable faster distribution to those in need. A Gadsden County applicant/organization can only qualify and receive funding through one program under the Gadsden County American Rescue Plan Programs.
“With less complicated requirements and a focus on outreach to the community, this direct assistance program will help Gadsden County residents, community groups, and small businesses that have experienced a loss of revenue or increased their expenditures due to COVID-19 and the pandemic’s economic impact on the community,” said community leader and pastor Willie C. Green.
All Gadsden Rescue grants will be provided on a “first qualified, first-served” basis.
