City of Tallahassee issued the following announcement on Sept. 24.

On Friday, Sept. 24, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) celebrated the promotions of two officers, Damon Miller and Felicia Mordica, to the rank of Sergeant. Together, they bring more than 30 years of dedicated service to the department and community.

Born and raised in Tallahassee, the two newly promoted Sergeants bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their new supervisory roles. The Sergeant position serves as the first line of supervisors in the police force. They are responsible for coordinating and guiding officers and detectives in their calls for service, investigations and daily tasks. In addition, Sergeants maintain the training, discipline and morale of members under their watch.

“We are thrilled to be promoting two long-time members of the department to the rank of Sergeant today,” Chief Lawrence Revell said. “These individuals have committed themselves to a career of service and dedication to this City, and I know they will continue to serve as great role models and mentors to many as they lead their squads and contribute to the department’s success.”

The Tallahassee Police Department is one of the oldest and longest accredited police departments in the nation, serving the citizens of Tallahassee since 1841.
