Tallahassee Community College (TCC) held a commencement ceremony for two students in the Eagle Connections program, on Thursday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the Workforce Development Grant Banquet Hall on TCC’s main campus.
Eagle Connections graduates Darryl Bullington and Taylor Hancock received a TCC Eagle Connections Employment credential. Both graduates spoke about their favorite memories at TCC at the ceremony.
“My favorite memory at TCC was going to the gym to play basketball during the Eagle Connections Social Hour,” said Bullington.” The reason this is my favorite memory is because we laughed and blew off some steam and had so much fun. While at TCC, I learned that its okay to fail as long you learn from your mistakes.”
“What I enjoyed the most at TCC was seeing my friends and just hanging out with them. I learned how to dress professionally while at TCC,” said Hancock.
Eagle Connections is a program dedicated to assisting students with intellectual disabilities transition into a postsecondary institution. The program includes a course study with academic enrichment, socialization, and personal and career development materials to promote employment and independence. It also offers an Employment Credential which is comprised of required core courses and electives chosen by the student based on their career interests within a college pathway. Students usually take two courses per semester, with the goal of completing the program within six semesters.
