WASHINGTON, D.C. – During today’s House Energy and Commerce’s Innovation, Data, And Commerce Subcommittee hearing, Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D. (Florida-02) expressed his concerns with the subcommittee and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding supply chains and rising price indexes negatively impacting local grocery and convenience stores throughout Florida’s Second Congressional District.

“Small and medium-sized businesses, including regional and local grocery and convenience stores, are the backbone of our communities,” said Congressman Dunn. “Broken supply chains and rising price indexes are forcing these businesses to close their doors, causing many small rural communities to become food deserts. The Federal Trade Commission must help our small communities and use its existing authority to stop this trend.”

Congressman Dunn sent a letter to the FTC Chair Lina Khan last year asking the Commission to use its existing authority to study conduct that could violate laws under its purview. During the hearing, the congressman followed up with Chair Khan to see what progress has been made since the FTC received his letter. You can watch his remarks here.
