The Tallahassee City Commission has voted to establish a Charter Review Committee (CRC) to review specified items in the City Charter.

Topics for consideration by the CRC are:

1. Review the number of electors (voting members) to compose the governing body of the City of Tallahassee

2. Review the compensation to be paid to the mayor and city commissioners

3. Review the City Charter to clarify if a municipal primary election should be held if only two persons qualify as candidates for the office of mayor or city commissioner

4. Consider the requirement of an appointed Charter Review Committee at regular interval periods

The Mayor and Commissioners will each appoint two members to the committee at the City Commission's regularly scheduled meeting on December 13, 2023; all appointees must be registered electors of the City as of October 1, 2023. Individuals interested in serving on the Charter Review Committee may review a copy of the committee's bylaws and submit applications on the Citizen Advisory Board page of the City's website, Talgov.com (click Our City then Citizen Advisory Boards).

The Charter Review Committee is expected to have an initial meeting in January 2024.
