WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Neal Dunn (Florida-02) has introduced an amendment to the FY2025 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act. The proposed amendment aims to prohibit the transfer of funds from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for activities under the Shelter and Service Program (SSP). The SSP program utilizes FEMA dollars to support non-federal entities in providing humanitarian services to illegal immigrants.
"Congress allocates money to CBP to secure our border and protect American lives, not to provide housing for illegal immigrants," stated Congressman Dunn. "The Biden administration has used every dirty trick in the book to keep our border open and encourage more illegal immigration. We must close this crucial loophole to prevent the Administration from using this money to provide more taxpayer-funded services for illegal immigrants."
Dunn expressed gratitude towards Congresswoman Malliotakis for her support in introducing the amendment and anticipates its inclusion in the final bill.
