Congressman Neal Dunn (Florida-02) and Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (NY-21) introduced legislation today to condemn Vice President Kamala Harris for her handling of the southern border crisis. On March 24, 2021, just 93 days into his presidency, President Joe Biden assigned Harris to oversee the border situation, stating, “When she speaks, she speaks for me.”

“Under the direct supervision of Kamala Harris, the crisis at our southern border has gone from bad to worse," said Congressman Dunn. "One of Harris’ only responsibilities as Vice President was to oversee the situation at the U.S.–Mexico border, making her just as complicit in this crisis as Biden or Mayorkas. The American people deserve elected officials who understand the gravity of this situation and will execute policies to protect them from the dangers of an open border. We hope every member of the U.S. House of Representatives will join us in strongly condemning the Biden administration and its Border Czar, Kamala Harris, for this unacceptable lapse in American national security.”

Since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office, there have been over 7.9 million illegal immigrant encounters at the southern border and 2 million known gotaways who evaded Border Patrol—more than in the entire previous decade. Additionally, 50 illegal immigrants with ties to ISIS are reportedly at large in the United States after being released by the Biden administration, while 350 individuals on the terrorist watch list were stopped trying to cross the southern border.
