On August 12, 2024, Congressman Neal Dunn (Florida-02) wrote a letter to President Biden requesting additional funding for residents of Madison and Jefferson counties affected by Hurricane Debby. The Administration had previously granted a Major Disaster Declaration (MDD) for the State of Florida on August 10, which enabled the release of federal funds to assist people and communities in recovering from the storm.

The MDD provided Individual Assistance (IA) to residents of Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Sarasota, Suwannee, and Taylor counties. Congressman Dunn is now seeking to extend this IA designation to include Madison and Jefferson counties to ensure their residents have access to federal recovery funds.

“Federal assistance is absolutely essential to ensure every community impacted by Hurricane Debby makes a full recovery,” said Congressman Dunn. “However, the Administration’s relief plan has left many Floridians behind. Today, I am requesting that the Administration extend Individual Assistance to the people of Madison and Jefferson counties in addition to those already designated to ensure everyone has the resources they need to make a full recovery."
