Today, Congressman Neal Dunn of Florida introduced the 10th Amendment Restoration Act in Washington, DC. The bill aims to establish a Constitutional Government Review Commission tasked with enhancing government transparency and efficiency. This proposed legislation seeks to provide formal congressional authorization for President Trump to eliminate unlawful powers exercised by federal agencies.
Congressman Dunn stated, "President Trump was elected with a clear mandate to fight the ever-growing influence of the federal bureaucracy and hold federal agencies accountable for going beyond the scope of their power as outlined in the Constitution." He further explained that President-elect Trump has organized the Department of Government Efficiency to review all federal agencies to eliminate wasteful, duplicative, and unlawful practices. According to Dunn, this bill will create a clear process to rein in and potentially eliminate federal agencies that abuse their power.
Dunn also emphasized that "The 10th Amendment Restoration Act will give the Trump Administration congressional authorization to conduct its activities to reform the federal government and ensure that all federal agencies are operating within the bounds of the Constitution." The legislation is designed to enable swift evaluation of government efficiency from Trump's first day in office, aiming to prevent delays in implementing reforms.
In addition to establishing a review commission, the legislation would allow it to recommend whether a federal agency's powers should be restricted or if it should be repealed entirely. Recommendations made by this commission would receive expedited consideration in both chambers of Congress for quick implementation. Furthermore, it would suggest ways to redistribute funds from closed federal agencies.
