TFD Responds to Two Overnight Structure Fires

City of Tallahassee issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.

The Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) recently responded to two structure fires. On Friday night at 9:11 PM , crews were dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire in the 2100 block of Jefferson Road. The 911 caller a neighbor reported fire coming from the rear roof of the structure. Upon arrival, crews found fire and smoke showing from a mobile home. A quick interior attack was performed and the fire was quickly extinguished. The fire was investigated and determined to have started in an electrical outlet inside the residence. All occupants escaped without injury, and 3 individuals were displaced. The following TFD units responded; Rescue 12, Tanker 12, Truck 16, Engine 16, Engine 7, Fire Med 1, Battalion Chief 1 and Battalion Chief 2. Units from Jefferson County Fire Department along with LCSO and LCEMS assisted at this incident.

On Saturday morning around 5:45 a.m., TFD was dispatched to Red Hills Motorsports at 1110 Capital Circle NE for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews reported heavy fire and smoke at the rear of the structure. A second alarm was struck for additional units to respond to the incident. Crews made an interior attack, but were forced to go to a defensive attack due to the volume of fire and conditions inside. The business sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. Units that responded from TFD were as follows; Engines 16, 6, 9, 1, 101, 3 and Trucks 16, 1, and 3 along with Air 4, Fire Med 1, Battalion Chief’s 1 and 3, and Chiefs 2, 3, and 5. There were no injuries reported on scene. At the time of release, the cause of the fire is under investigation by TFD Investigators and the State Fire Marshal’s office, and TFD units are still on scene. TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS.
