WHO: Leon County Government

WHAT: Williams Landing On-the Water Cleanup

WHERE: 951 Williams Landing Road

Leon County Government will host the Williams Landing On-the-Water Cleanup on Saturday, November 13 at 9 a.m. as part of the County’s strategic initiative to protect our local water quality and preserve our natural ecosystems. Volunteers will be on the water in kayaks and canoes collecting litter in the lake and along the shoreline. Sign-up now at GrowingGreen.org/cleanup.

Since its inception, Leon County’s lake cleanups have engaged hundreds of volunteers in removing nearly 2,000 lbs. of trash from the community’s waterbodies and shorelines. In collaboration with community partners, Leon County citizens will spend the morning in canoes and kayaks cleaning up litter at Williams Landing.

Outdoor recreation connects citizens to nature in a mindful way that reminds us all to protect our natural resources and is a great way to experience the unique environmental attractions Leon County is known for. Lake cleanups not only provide a fun way to give back, but they also protect and preserve our water quality, providing stable habitat for local wildlife.

Volunteers of all skill levels are invited to participate in this year’s cleanup event. Leon County will be providing a limited number of kayak and canoes for registrants on a first-come first-served basis. Alternatively, if you have your own kayak or canoe, you are welcome to bring them. Sign up to volunteer at Growinggreen.org/cleanup. Lunch will be provided.
