Tallahassee Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 13.
On this day, we remember and honor Sergeant Dale Green who was killed in the line of duty on November 13, 2002 while serving our community.
Sergeant Green was shot and killed when he was ambushed while responding to a home-invasion robbery. As he approached the scene, he observed a suspicious car and called in a description of it before being shot. The suspect fled the scene but was arrested after a long chase and shootout. On September 8, 2004, the suspect was convicted of Sergeant Green's murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Sergeant Green had served with the Tallahassee Police Department for 13 years. We will always be thankful for his service to the citizens of Tallahassee, and we will #NeverForget.
