City of Tallahassee issued the following announcement on Jan. 24.
Monday, Jan. 24, Chief Lawrence E. Revell and the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) celebrated its first swearing-in of 2022, welcoming 13 new officers.
“I am so honored to celebrate the individuals who make up this class of recruits,” Chief Revell said. “They embody what it means to put service before self, and I know they will do great things in this community.”
With public health guidelines in place, the honorees’ families and friends, along with City leaders, gathered at City Hall to recognize these brave men and women. Two of the recruits join the ranks of TPD with parents who have also dedicated their lives to public service as law enforcement officers.
The Tallahassee Police Department is one of the oldest and longest accredited police departments in the nation, serving the citizens of Tallahassee since 1841. The department is comprised of nearly 400 sworn members and nearly 200 civilian employees. For more information on how to join the ranks of the Tallahassee Police Department, visit Talgov.com/Police.
