Children’s Day at the Capitol brought together supporters of the Learning with Dignity Bill, HB 175 / SB 248

Children

Leon County Schools issued the following announcement on Feb. 2.

Children’s Day at the Capitol brought together supporters of the Learning with Dignity Bill, HB 175 / SB 248 which would require school districts to supply menstrual products to students for free.

LCS has been a leader in the state in this area, thanks in large part to the grassroots efforts of Girl Flo, founded by Amaya Waymon, a student at James S. Rickards High School, along with the Foundation For Leon County Schools, Rosanne Wood, Fasig Brooks, and other generous community members. The Girl Flo project has funded two menstrual product dispensers for every secondary school, products to go into the dispensers, and has collected and distributed thousands of take-home supplies for students in need.
