The Tallahassee Community College (TCC) Eagle Connections program has been renewed for another five years by the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities (FCSUA) at the University of Central Florida as a Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program (FPCTP).

Continuous approval as a FPCTP allows for more scholarship and advancement opportunities for students in the program in addition to more resources and money to fund program development. Annually, Eagle Connections awards each student a $7,000 scholarship which is immediately available to go towards tuition, housing, fees, and other related expenses.

“We are thrilled to receive this renewal which allows us to continue the important work that we are doing with these talented, dedicated students,” said Sheri Rowland, Vice President of Student Affairs at Tallahassee Community College. “We truly value the role we play in helping students not only prepare for the workforce but realize their potential and build a future. We look forward to expanding the program over the next five years.”

As one of the first institutions with a comprehensive transition program, TCC leads this growing trend and is one of 19 postsecondary institutions in Florida offering students with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to pursue higher education. Since the program’s inception in 2011, TCC has expanded access to higher education and has broadened employment and independence opportunities for more students. Students who complete the program will receive a TCC Employment Credential in addition to a course of study that includes career exploration and planning, personal development, internship and/or work experience, and social activities designed to promote gainful employment and increased independence.

Interested students are encouraged to apply for the Fall semester 2022 here.
