For this week's #WOWWednesday, we're highlighting Alex MacKinnon, Leon County Emergency Management Coordinator. Alex has worked with Leon County since 2016 and says his favorite thing about the job is the relationships he’s made. He is currently a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers and the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association. Over the last two years, Alex has been working to transition Emergency Management curriculum from pure ICS (field-based) to a hybrid curriculum that includes Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs). Starting this month, these courses will be delivered for the first time in Florida with Alex as the lead instructor.
In his free time, Alex enjoys playing in his softball league and traveling to places like London, Edinburgh, Loch Ness, Moab Desert, Boston, and Indianapolis.
Alex’s commitment to building community resilience is what makes him a great Leon County team member!
