Leon County Animal Control officers not only help improve animal and human well-being through education, prevention, and enforcement programs, but they’re animal lovers too!

Officer Ashley Catron has worked with Leon County Animal Control for one and a half years and her favorite part of her job is being a resource for animals and their owners “by educating them as to proper care and treatment, helping/rescuing animals from less than desirable situations, and making sure they get the care and attention they deserve.”

Officer Catron adopted her miniature schnauzer mix, Kalani, from a local rescue. Kalani, which means “the boss” in Hawaiian, loves doing zoomies around the house and stealing shoe inserts from visitor’s shoes (but never from Officer Catron’s shoes!). When she’s not napping, Kalani loves to play tug with her best friend fur-ever, Tatum.
